Weeks 28 and 29

Sorry for the lack of photos! As you can imagine, the holidays have kept us busy and we just didn't have time to snap pics for these two weeks. Here is the baby scoop:

Week 28: Yay! The 3rd trimester is here. We are in the home stretch now! Baby weighs two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of her head to her heels. With her eyesight developing, she may be able to see the light that filters in through the womb. She's also developing billions of neurons in her brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world. The Dr. asked Romney to start a "kick card" this week. After dinner, Romney counts how long it takes the baby to move or kick ten times. Baby is averaging 10 kicks in about 40 mins.

Week 29: Baby now weighs about 2 1/2 pounds (like a butternut squash) and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. His muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and his head is growing bigger to make room for his developing brain. And because his bones are soaking up lots of calcium, Romney is going through about a gallon of milk every week. She can't get the stuff in fast enough!! Romney also has a major craving for OJ. It's the very first thing she drinks in the morning--sometimes she gets out of bed as early as 4 AM just to have a quick glass then crawls back into bed.
